A summer greeting from Mikael

Published Jun 23, 2022

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about an inspiring visit to the Netherlands and sends a summer greeting to all CBH's employees.

CBH's heads of department, vice heads of school and I visited Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands for a few days this week. With the help of Sebastiaan Meijer's good contacts within the university, we got a unique insight into how they have strategically worked to become a "mission driven" university. In contrast to focusing only on, for example, food technology, the area is instead much broader, such as reduced hunger in the world. This means that more educational programs and research specializations become involved. Wageningen University & Research has climbed the international ranking system and gained higher student approval with astonishing speed and is today seen as a model for a successful university in many parts of the world. Extra exciting is that the research institute part is an integral part of the university, hence the name Wageningen University & Research. A comparison would be if KTH and RISE was sharing services and infrastructure. In summary, these were very inspiring days and it is with extra energy that we are now looking at how we can continue to develop the CBH School.

Now, CBH News will take a summer break. So I want to take the opportunity to express lots of gratitude to all employees who are involved and contribute to us developing our education, research and collaboration at the CBH School. Now make sure to use the summer vacation for recovery and take advantage of those moments that give you new energy. I look forward to jointly continuing to develop the CBH School together with you!

Take care of yourself and have a nice midsummer weekend!

Mikael
