Mikael: "A university to rely on"

Published May 14, 2020

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about the Swedish government’s investment in permanent education places, the examination this autumn and KTH Active Together.

Dear colleagues,

A university to rely on – that is the response our President have received from the Ministry of education. The Swedish government is following their investment in the foundation year programme with an equally large investment in KTH regarding permanent education places. The Swedish universities will receive a total of SEK 111 million during 2020, corresponding to approximately 1,300 full-year students, and SEK 222 million in 2021, corresponding to approximately 2,600 full-year students. KTH receives the largest part of the funds, among the higher education institutions. The President would like to extend her warm thanks to everyone at KTH for ensuring that we continue to deliver education and research at the forefront.

Many of us are now thinking about when, how and what the return to normality will look like, and the president has decided that remote examination will apply to all examinations taking place during the period 2020-05-13 - 2020-08-22 i.e. the whole spring semester of 2020. The decision applies to preparatory, basic and advanced education. The president will await the recommendations of the Public Health Authority at the end of May before deciding what the fall semester of 2020 will look like.

"KTH ACTIVE TOGETHER" is all about increasing our motivation to move and exercise. It will also be a new way of socializing and an easy way to stay in touch with our colleagues. Form teams and compete, within CBH and with other schools. May 18 - June 15 we run "CBH ACTIVE TOGETHER"! Sign up here  and watch our inspiring video !

Best wishes

Micke
