Mikael about work and travel in the spring

Published Mar 11, 2021

Head of School, Mikael Lindström, writes about the latest announcement that we will work at home until 31 May and what it means for the business.

On Tuesday, the President’s decision on adaptation of workplace activities during the spring term 2021 arrived. The decision applies from 1 March to 31 May 2021. Changes may be made as a result of the Government's and other authorities' announcements and recommendations.

Managers and employees must, in consultation, ensure that only those who must be on site for operations to function work on campus. Others must work from home. Apart from this, operations continue according to previous plans and decisions.

KTH operations are to a certain extent campus based during the spring semester 2021, meaning that physical presence will, in many cases, be required. Activities and operations shall be planned to avoid close physical contact and crowding. Coordination shall take place around the use of common premises and general spaces where employees from several organizational units gather at the same time. Support and services should be adapted accordingly.

Physical meetings that bring together larger groups of people (conferences, events, etc.) should be replaced by digital meetings or gatherings in smaller groups.

Domestic business trips can be carried out after reconciliation with the immediate manager and submission of travel orders. The business trip must also be carried out in accordance with the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations.

International business trips should be avoided, but can be done in exceptional cases after consultation with the immediate manager and submission of travel orders. The trips must then be carried out in line with current recommendations from the Swedish Public Health Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
