Mikael on innovation and environmental audits

Yesterday, KTH Innovation held a full day on sustainable fashion. One may ask where clothes have to do with technology. Not quite everything maybe, but to improve the fashion industry's climate footprint, a lot of technological development will be required. We got to see new technology that nudge the fashion industry in a more sustainable direction, met startups and got inspiration to contribute to a fashion industry with less environmental impact. There was everything from 3D-printed lipsticks, recycling, new materials, and the latest research. It is really great that we can now hold physical events and many good discussions took place during the day. KTH is also a partner in the Global Change Award, one of the world's largest innovation competitions for the transition to a more sustainable fashion industry, and yesterday the 2022 winner was revealed . KTH Innovation supports students, researchers and employees at KTH who want to develop an idea or create benefit with their research.

The external environmental audit of KTH's operations is in progress, so the exhibition at Teknikringen 1 was much appreciated by our external auditors. This year there is a minor revision of our ISO14001 system and on Thursday we will have a look at the preliminary results, but I can already say that the CBH School's work in sustainable development – both in research and education – receives much praise from the auditors. Many thanks to all of you teachers, researchers and administrators who contribute! An extra big thank you to our PAs, deputy GAs and GAs who put a lot of work into the program analyzes that are a basis in the work.
