Mikael on the recruitment process for the next KTH President

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about the ongoing work to find KTH's next President and Deputy President.

Our current President's term expires on November 30, 2022 and our Deputy President’s term expires on December 31, 2022. The University Board has begun work on preparing a proposal for a new President and Deputy President. At a meeting on June 9, 2021, a nomination committee for the work was appointed, consisting of the members:

  • Pia Sandvik, chair of the University Board, chair of the nomination committee
  • Christian Levin, member from an employer other than KTH (so-called representatives of public interests)
  • Tina Karrbom Gustavsson, appointed by the Faculty Council
  • Svante Linusson, appointed by the Faculty Council
  • Ävelin Pantigoso Velasquez, appointed by the Student Union at KTH (THS)
  • Simon Edström, appointed by the Student Union at KTH (THS)
  • Olav Vahtras, appointed by the Employees' Organizations
  • Annica Fröberg, appointed by the University Director

KTH's President is employed by the Swedish government’s decision for a maximum of six years following a proposal by the KTH University Board. The employment may be renewed twice, for a maximum of three plus three years. The next step in the recruitment process is that the position has been announced. Anyone who is employed or studying at KTH is also invited to nominate candidates.
