Mikael about being the final candidate for Deputy President of KTH
Head of school Mikael Lindström writes about being the final candidate for the position as KTH's next Deputy President and how he hopes to contribute if he gets the position.
As many of you may already know, I am the nomination committee's final candidate for the position of KTH's next Deputy President. On October 24, there will be a hearing in F1 at 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Both KTH's chairman of the board Pia Sandvik and KTH's next President Anders Söderholm will participate.

Later in the afternoon, I will meet the Faculty Council and THS. Before the nomination committee submits their final proposal on who should be appointed Deputy President to the university board, the nomination committee must, in addition to the hearing, also obtain written opinions from the university's teachers, other employees, students and employee organizations. The University Board will then decide on a new Deputy President on 23 November 2022, for a 6-year period starting on 1 January 2023.
If I am appointed Deputy President of KTH, I hope to be able to contribute with my long KTH experience. With more than 11 years as head of school, I have an understanding of our operations, education and research. I also hope to contribute to all of us feeling part of the educational and research activities, regardless of our role at KTH. Today, our education and research activities works very well and the challenges we are facing are rather on the cost side, for example in how we manage our joint costs for premises and infrastructure. I think it is important that KTH continues to have a strong experimental environment linked to both education and research.
