Mikael on campus-based education this autumn

Published Jun 03, 2021

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about the students returning to campus this autumn and about the costs of the CBH School's premises.

There are many of us who long to meet our students in other ways than via zoom. With the  on how KTH's education will be conducted this autumn, our students can finally return to a completely open campus from August 29th. The re-examination period in August will be carried out remotely and the reception of new students is held partly on campus and partly digitally. Naturally, KTH will continue to be corona-adapted and we will avoid congestion and large crowds until the authorities have lifted the restrictions further.

On Tuesday, we had this year's first school dialogue with the President Sigbritt Karlsson. The dialogue focuses on the CBH School's challenges and success factors, strategic issues, finances, sustainable development, gender equality and collaborations. As you know, the CBH School is still very successful in both education and research in health, environment, materials and energy. We do a good job when it comes to dimensioning the school's staff, but unfortunately we have little influence over our premises costs, which after the salary cost is our highest cost. We raised the subject of the high and increasing rents at the CBH School with the President. This mainly applies to the premises in Flemingsberg and there the one-man investigation of our campus is now complete. We at the CBH School will have the opportunity to submit a consultation response to the President and we will return with more information as soon as the assignment arrives at the school.
