Mikael on the importance of collaboration
Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about a research collaboration with CBH's partner university Shanghai Jai Tong University, the implementation of the RAE and the upcoming staff meetings at the CBH School.
This morning, professor Cecilia Williams and senior lecturer Zeynep Cetecioglu-Gurol participated in a digital meeting with our partner university, Shanghai Jai Tong University (SJTU), about the method the CBH researchers have developed to measure the presence of coronavirus in wastewater. Right now, SJTU is closed down due to increasing contagion on campus and our colleagues at SJTU want to use the method to predict where in the contagion process SJTU and Shanghai are. When you participate in this type of meeting, you realize more and more the importance of internationally open research and the societal benefits we all at CBH contribute. Early in the pandemic, the CBH School was offered help from China to set up testing for Covid-19 and now we have the opportunity to repay the service.
The CBH School has begun the work of taking care of the results of the completed research evaluation, Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), which can be used to further improve our successful research. We have started with a compilation from each department and the discussion now continues in the departments' management groups. On May 18, we have a full day with CBH's management team to make an action plan for CBH.
The war in Ukraine has now been going on for over a month. The commitment and willingness to help is great and the initiatives are many at KTH.
