Sanna Berglund, outgoing student representative on CBH's faculty board, reflects on her time on the board.

At Christmas, Sanna Berglund will conclude her term as student representative on CBH's faculty board and management team. She has been a substitute member of both groups during the autumn.

Sanna Berglund is in her final year of the 5-year engineering programme in technical chemistry, with a master's degree in chemical engineering for energy and the environment.

"Important role"

Her role has been to represent all students at CBH. To stay up to date and know what to pass on, she has held meetings with the study committees at the school's departments.

"I think the faculty board plays an important role in developing the work at the school, and I often find that the discussions are rewarding because we represent different parts of the school," Berglund says.

What she finds most interesting is gaining insight into the school's work. Something she has been most interested in personally is the development of an action plan for broadened recruitment and broadened participation.

"A lot to do"

– I can see that there is a lot to do there. I think it is important that everyone feels welcome at KTH, and part of that is having a broader student body. Another aspect is that interest in science has declined among young people, and I think it's important for KTH to reach out to new groups. I also think KTH could do a better job of reaching out beyond the county, partly because I'm not from Stockholm myself. I therefore think it is important to reflect on why more people do not move to study at KTH. Is it because it is expensive and difficult to find accommodation? Is it because people do not believe there is a student life? Does the advertising not reach them? Or is it because it is difficult to get in? For example.

Sanna Berglund gains greater insight into the school's work and the goals of KTH and CBH.

"It has also been interesting to meet student representatives from other schools and learn more about how problems vary between different programmes and schools.’"
