Sweden and KTH participation in Horizon 2020

The Swedish Innovation Agency, Vinnova, presents the outcome of Horizon 2020 on a yearly basis and recently they released the 2019 statistics. Sweden continues to be successful and positions 8th in comparison to other countries. Based on granted funding, the most successful organisation in Sweden is Lund University, followed by Karolinska Institutet, KTH, Chalmers and Uppsala University.

Regarding the outcome on the national level for each of the three pillars in Horizon 2020, KTH positions 4th in Excellent Science, 1st in Industrial Leadership and 3rd in Societal Challenges. In Euratom, KTH positions 1st on a national level. When comparing Horizon 2020 granted funding for all organisations in Sweden, Lund University is placed 37th and KTH 42nd.

On the other hand, KTH has had the highest number of participations in projects, followed by Karolinska University, Uppsala University and Stockholm University. Since the start of Horizon 2020 programme, KTH has participated in more than 248 projects and has been granted over 126 M€.
