New digital course on export control for researchers in technology and natural sciences
Are you conducting research or teaching in technology or natural sciences? If so, you handle knowledge and equipment that can have both civilian and military applications. Much of this knowledge and equipment is regulated by export controls, and this course provides you with the knowledge to act appropriately.
“This course was created primarily for people who conduct research, teach, or work with development in the fields of technology and natural sciences and in related fields of research. The course is also suitable for staff members in leadership positions or support functions”, says Fredrik Karlsson, senior officer at KTH:s Research Support Office.
The course has been developed by KTH and six other higher education institutions. It is primarily aimed at those working within academia, conducting research, teaching, or engaging in development within technology, natural sciences, and related fields.
What you will learn
After completing this course, you will have a basic understanding of export controls and how they affect research and education.
“You will also have a basic knowledge of what dual-use items are, as well as what military equipment and technology are. Identifying risks related to export controls and understanding the importance of legal compliance are also important parts of the course objectives”, Fredrik Karlsson says.
