Contract management

Collaborative projects

Research projects involving multiple partners require a project agreement.

Find out more about what an agreement regulates

The Project Management Support at your school will guide you through the administrative process and, when needed, forward the matter to KTH Civil Law and Contracts Office, which prepares and reviews agreements. Experts in areas such as export control, ethics, and/or data protection may also be consulted when necessary.

What you, as a researcher/project leader, need to submit to the Project Management Support as early as possible:

  • Any draft agreement from an external coordinator. The coordinator/lead applicant of the project is responsible for preparing the initial agreement draft.

Please note that the Project Management Support must obtain approval from the Head of Department and/or Head of School before proceeding with the case.

Once the agreement has been fully negotiated and all parties are in agreement, it is forwarded for signature by the authorized signatory in accordance with KTH’s delegation of authority (link to information in Swedish only).

Examples of additional agreements that may require review

  • Contract research agreements
  • Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) / Data Transfer Agreements (DTA)
  • Non‑Disclosure Agreements (confidentiality agreements)
  • Declarations of intent (Memorandum of Understanding, Letter of Intent, Declarations of Honour)

For more information, please contact your school’s Project Management Support/contract coordinator.
