Instructions on how to secure your KTH Microsoft 365 account with Multifactor authentication (MFA)

If you need to use Multifactor authentication on your KTH account in Microsoft 365 to provide extra security for external or internal services, you will need to contact IT-Support and request to enable MFA authentication on your KTH Microsoft 365 account.

After we enable MFA on your account you will need to follow the steps below so you can configure your phone for MFA.

Prerequisites for MFA

You will need have a personal ios or android mobile phone.
You will need to have an internet connection, wifi or 4G/5G.

Instructions to setup and configure MFA for your phone

Step 1.  Please use the following instructions to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone (external link).

Step 2. Please use the following instructions to set up an authenticator app as your two-factor verification method, how to set up an Microsoft Authenticator app as your two-factor verification method (external link).

Step 3. (optional) If you have applications that do not support MFA enabled accounts you have to create an application specific password for your applications to be able to use them with your account.
