This video briefly summarizes the data on gender equality in OECD countries,focusing on three main pillars of our society - education, employment and entrepreneurship.At first, it is explained how much a higher education can benefit to a country, increasing its GDP.Then, the status of women in educationis given, revealing, at the same time, the divergence between study fields chosen by opposite genders.Eventually, the video raises an essential question – does the pay gap between men and women exist?

The ‘gender-equality paradox’ in STEM fields – BBC Newsnight

Do the Nordic countries, known for being leaders on genders equality, have more balanced genders distribution among STEM graduatesthan, for example, Turkey or Algeria? It seems plausible, but, in fact,it is far from the truth, and this is what researchers called Gender-Equality Paradoxin Science Technology Engineering and Mathfields. Different explanations are offered to these findings, such asless economic-driven and more desire-driven choices of study fields as a consequence of higher life satisfaction in more gender-equal societies. But why some occupations are dominated by a unique gender? We are looking at the tip of the iceberg,and the answer to this question appears far from straightforward.
