Information concerning the reorganisation of the SCI departments

The reorganisation process of departments of Aeronautical & Vehicle Engineering, Solid Mechanics and Mechanics during Autumn 2019

27 sep SCI Collaboration group raised the matter to the central Collaboration group at KTH.
11 okt Central Collaboration group att KTH invited Head of SCI School.
25 okt Head of SCI School attended the central Collaboration group meeting.
30 okt Head of SCI School informed the SCI Board regarding status.
18 dec Central Collaboration group will be invited to the SCI Schools SSG meeting for follow-up information.

The Head of the school participated in the Central Cooperation Group meeting on 25th of October. Collaboration with the central collaborative group resulted in the continued reorganization work phase-by-step to anchor and communicate the process better towards a joint department. The Central Collaboration Group is invited to the SSG meeting of the school on 18th December for follow-up information. In addition, the Head of School and the Central Cooperative Group agreed to:

  • The implementation team will continuously establish and communicate its work during the process. The head of school will clarify this for the group.
  • The implementation group is to be extended with a person outside the school (Anders Johansson, Rector's Special Adviser). Erik Edstam (safety representative) and Anna Burvall (representative of AO) are both in SSG and in the implementation group. Erik Edstam is also a union representative in CSG Protective Officer and AO's representative has been appointed by AO.
  • The head of the school will give the implementation team a clear and enhanced mandate. This means, for example, that the split of MWL does not turn off. The implementation team will be tasked with working out an appropriate location of MWL in the new organization. The head of the school will return to the next management team meeting SCI with more details.

In addition, the Head of the school and the central Cooperation group agreed that the communication of the above points will take place at the next management team meeting at the School of Engineering Sciences on 30th October. The Head of the school is investigating concerning the school and joint operations support how and in which order the various stages are best done. The head of school will come back to the management team meeting SCI with more details. Already now, it is clear that the budget, education, research etc. (ie business planning) for next year (2019) takes place on the basis of the three institutions separately, regardless of the fact that the reorganization continues on stage. The affected Head of departments and Deputy head of departments will get an extended mandate (possibly with certain adjustments later on).
