KTH Strengthens Water Research Through Water Wise Societies Membership
KTH is now a member of Water Wise Societies, one of five impact innovation programmes in Sweden. These are 100-MSEK initiatives funded by agencies such as Vinnova, Formas and the Swedish Energy Agency. “Where collaboration flows, innovation follows,” says WaterCentre’s Director Zahra Kalantari.
Water Wise Societies – Hållbart vatten för alla – is led by RISE in collaboration with IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Linköping Science Park, Lund University, Stockholm Environment Institute and Svenskt Vatten.
Andrew Martin has been part of the Water Centre’s steering group since its inception almost ten years ago. When Water Wise Societies reached out, he was the one who first established contact.
“Networks such as WWS are an integral part of the Centre’s activities. When I heard about WWS and learned that KTH was not a member, I arranged a meeting between KTH Water Centre and WWS. Things progressed very quickly after that. It’s fantastic that KTH is now part of WWS. As the designated contact for KTH, I hope to further develop mutually beneficial projects,” he says.
Recently, Anna Maria Sundin, Deputy Programme Manager for Water Wise Societies, held a lunch seminar organised by the Water Centre. She noted that the members play a crucial role in shaping the programme.
WaterCentre’s Director Zahra Kalantari is looking forward to future collaboration.
”KTH has many researchers working in the field of water research. Where collaboration flows, innovation follows. WaterCentre at KTH looks forward to shaping the future of sustainable water together with Water Wise Societies and its members,” she says.
