Europa’s tenuous atmosphere provides a crucial link between the moon’s icy surface and Jupiter’s vast magnetosphere. Over the past three decades, both remote and in-situ observations have transformed our understanding of this dynamic system. Observations from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Juno spacecraft now offer two complementary perspectives that together provide a more coherent picture of Europa’s atmosphere and its interaction with Jupiter’s magnetosphere. In this talk, I will discuss how these datasets can be combined to reconstruct Europa’s atmosphere, highlight emerging discrepancies between observational approaches, and outline how future coordinated observations and modeling efforts can help resolve them to advance our understanding of atmospheric processes on icy worlds.
