Space-Conditioning: How Architecture Can Shape Sustainable Environmental Regulation
Lunch seminar
Environmental regulation serves as the primitive motive for construction and the fundamental driving force behind architectural evolution. Architecture is the formal solidification and ordered expression of energy conservation, release, and transmission.

This lecture will articulate the energy principles underlying architectural formation, and explore how architecture, as a climate-space-energy translation structure, achieves performance-based regulation of indoor and outdoor environments through space organization, building massing, and tectonic design—realizing environmental regulation via the morphology and organizational structure of space itself.
The lecture will further validate the practical efficacy of the Space-Conditioning design approach through the projects of an archaeological museum and a green smart study center, both designed by Prof. Zhang Tong as Principal Architect.
