Electrochemical devices play a central role in the energy sector by enabling efficient, flexible, and sustainable energy storage and conversion. Chemical engineering drives advances in these technologies through the optimization of materials, processes, and system design, including the development of high-performance electrodes, electrolytes, and catalysts with improved conductivity, stability, and reactivity.

This presentation highlights ongoing research at the Department of Chemical Engineering on two key technologies: flow batteries for stationary energy storage and water electrolysis for green hydrogen production. The overarching objective is to advance safer, more durable, and cost-effective electrochemical devices that can support large-scale deployment in future energy systems.
