Janne Wallenius  research areas include design and safety analysis of lead-cooled reactors, transmutation of nuclear waste, advanced nuclear fuel development and radiation damage physics. He is working on commercialising the outcome of research through the spin-off company Blykalla

Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) have moved from a promising concept to a concrete element in many national energy strategies. Yet the first commercial units now under construction are still physically large units, scaled down only in power.

In this lunch seminar, Professor Janne Wallenius, a leading SMR researcher and co founder of the Swedish lead-cooled SMR developer  Blykalla, presents the newest generation of advanced SMRs designed for:

  • Enhanced safety through passive decay heat removal and low pressure operation
  •  Fast spectrum cores enabling higher fuel utilisation and minimal long lived waste
  •  Industrial process heat applications beyond electricity, including hydrogen and district heating

The first 40 attendees get a free lunch wrap! No registration, just show up at the appointed time.
