Northern lights have always fascinated humans with their mysterious light-curtains that move over the night sky in northern Scandinavia. But did you know that they also appear during the day, that they are seen close to the South pole, and sometimes even in Germany, as was the case this spring?

Anita Kullen, who leads the division of Space and Plasma Physics at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH, will explain what all this has to do with the Sun, the ultimate source of both space plasma and the northern lights. Studying solar storms and the solar wind allows us to predict when and where we can detect the next colourful light show in the night sky.
