Webinar: "Guiding students away from plagiarism"
Are you worried that you may find plagiarized parts in your students' home work or open book exam? Do you want to help your students write better scientific texts? Are you looking for a silver bullet to eradicate plagiarism from KTH?
Time: Tue 2020-05-19 12.15 - 13.00
Location: Online, Zoom http://kth-se.zoom.us/j/829795643
This Lunch 'n' Learn seminar can help you get started on some of these challenges. I will introduce the six step strategy for deterring plagiarism from the book "Guiding students away from plagiarism/Hjälp studenterna att undvika plagiering" [1] (Carroll, Zetterling, 2009).
Some ways to design assessment tasks that discourage copy-paste plagiarism and other cheating will also be discussed. There is also a recorded resource in KTH Play for students called "Avoiding (being accused of) Plagiarism" [2]. You may include these films in your Canvas courses.
1. The fulltext in Swedish and English (both in one file) is available in Diva with the short link plagiarism.se
2. Go to play.kth.se and search for my channel titled "Avoiding Plagiarism". It has four film clips, the complete thing; and subdivided into three parts.
Presenter: Professor Carl-Mikael Zetterling (EECS, KTH)
