Anyone who wants to gain insight into the history and environment of KTH Campus now has the chance to take part in one of the spring guided tours. Anna Hamilton, sub-project manager in KTH's anniversary office and KTH guide, encourages everyone to take advantage of a lunch hour to discover the campus area's beautiful art, impressive architecture, and get a dose of KTH history.

"We have one of Stockholm's most beautiful workplaces, and the KTH Campus is home to both historical and modern art treasures. Having knowledge of the environment in which we work makes us confident in being able to convey some of the story of KTH, Hamilton says.

She points out that many employees receive visitors on campus and says that it can be fun to be able to tell them something about KTH's history and environment. She also thinks that everyone should know KTH is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2027.

A magical courtyard and a historical treasure

Become a KTH guide

KTH is looking for more campus guides, and an information meeting will be held on April 2 at 3 p.m. Contact Anna Hamilton at annahami@kth.se  for more information.

Hamilton's personal favorite place at KTH is Tessingården.

"It is a hidden little courtyard below the Clock Tower, and few people find it. There is a care tree there, a chestnut that was planted when the campus was built. It's a quiet and peaceful place with the benches and the facade sculptures – absolutely magical, she says.

One of the more unexpected historical events on campus involves an ancient treasure.

"In 1914, when the campus was being built, a bag of British coins, a silver treasure from the Viking Age, was found on campus. Such coins were once used to buy England free from Viking raids. Today, these coins are part of the collections at the Economic Museum, Hamilton says.

Being able to introduce people to the world of KTH and meet their curiosity about KTH's history and environment is something she really appreciates.

"There is so much behind the brick. Many people don't realise how much there is in the area and that the KTH Campus is actually as big as the Old Town, Hamilton says.
