Amelie on CBH's finances

Last week, just before the Ascension weekend, the CBH School had an operational dialogue with KTH's management. During the first half of the meeting, we discussed the follow-up of our finances and education forecast. The school's finances largely follow the budget for 2023. The president’s decision about a "balanced economy" has led to a gathering of forces at the school and we have made great efforts to temporarily increase the volume of education. It is difficult to say what the outcome will be this early, since most courses only start this autumn, but the number of applications looks promising. Many thanks to everyone who contributes and makes an effort to improve our economy!

The second half of the meeting focused on quality issues in research and faculty development. An important issue that was discussed was how we can speed up the process for teacher recruitment. Today we risk losing good candidates due to a too slow process. Last year, the average time for recruiting an assistant professor, associate professor or professor at KTH was a whopping 442 days from start to decision on employment. Here we need to review all steps in the process, but we can, for example, be faster in appointing experts and booking meetings with the recruitment boards.
