Mikael on the workplace of the future at CBH

Published Jan 21, 2021

CBH's Head of school Mikael Lindström writes about the future workplace at the school.

What does the future workplace look like for the staff at the CBH School? During the pandemic, we have probably all thought about this, and what we can do together to be a modern and attractive workplace - whether we will be working on-site or remotely.

At the most recent strategic council, our Vice-president for Digitization, Jan Gulliksen (Gulan), presented his research area on digitization and work processes. During the spring, a group led by Gulan will conduct field studies at many different types of workplaces, survey studies of perceived work environments and collect image material of home work environments.

The purpose of the work is:

  • To understand the digital workplace at KTH how diversified it is and can be with all its possibilities and shortcomings.
  • To be able to describe both the strengths and weaknesses of the digital workplace.
  • To understand the consequences of the current digital workplace in terms of costs and efficiency losses and what potential gains and effects could be achieved if it were improved.

Expected results:

  • Crucial system solutions for the business
  • Frustration-creating systems and time thieves
  • Heterogeneity versus pattern - standard systems or special solutions
  • Lack of systems, lack of training, lack of support and lack of leadership
  • Digital working methods - what we do and what you can do

As it is our colleagues that are our work environment, we all need to be involved in this work and lead the discussion on how we can develop the digital work environment and the digital workplace at CBH.
