Amelie on the campus review

Published Apr 05, 2023

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about the Deputy President’s review of KTH's operations at various campuses.

The Deputy President’s initial review of KTH's operations at various campuses has been presented, and in connection with this the Deputy President and the President visited our campus in Flemingsberg on Friday, March 31. The meeting was well attended and many employees took the opportunity to ask questions. The background to the work is that KTH's premises costs are increasing sharply and that measures are needed to improve the economy. The review of the operations showed some possible future scenarios for KTH's location at various campuses, which are now to be investigated further. Only this fall, on September 30, will a final report be presented with concrete proposals on where the operations should be conducted in the future. For the continued, in-depth investigative work, several working groups will be formed and led by the Deputy President.

For the CBH School, it was particularly interesting to hear what the investigation would point to for the future of Campus Flemingsberg, but none of the first scenarios presented on Friday mean that our operations will be moved away from Flemingsberg. However, it is possible that activities will be moved from other campuses to Flemingsberg, where there are currently vacant premises that are not being used. We also need to be prepared for the fact that all campuses will be affected by the premises review, as premises costs need to be reduced overall. During the year, we will continue to review where we can condense and terminate premises.
