Amelie on last week's conferment ceremony

Published Nov 22, 2023

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about last week's conferment ceremony, where 53 new doctors from the CBH school were awarded.

Last Friday it was time for KTH's conferment ceremony, which took place in Stockholm City Hall. Newly graduated doctors, jubilee doctors, honorary doctors, supervisors, university management and invited external guests gathered in the Blue Hall for a solemn promotion ceremony. As Head of school, I had the privilege of presenting all the new doctors from the CBH school who were to be promoted, which this year was as many as 53 people.

The Dean of KTH, Sofia Ritzén, acted as promoter and handed out diplomas to all the graduates. It was so nice to see the new doctors, dressed in their finest ceremonial clothes, at the ceremony!

Among this year's jubilee doctors, i.e. the people who received their doctorate 50 years ago, was Christofer Leygraf, a well-known profile from the CBH school. Christofer Leygraf was a professor of corrosion science and active at KTH for many years, and for four years he was Dean of the then School of Chemical Sciences.

The solemn conferment ceremony was followed by a banquet with good food and drink in the Golden Hall and then many people continued the celebration well into the night.
