Amelie on the JML work at KTH and CBH

Published Oct 08, 2025

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about the ongoing JML work and InspireLab.

Over the past year, work has been underway to develop a new policy decision on gender equality, diversity and equal opportunities (JML) at KTH. It is a relatively concise document, which is intended to be accompanied by an action plan with concrete activities. The CBH School's priority activities will be developed in discussions with, among others, the school's faculty board, management team and JML group. Anyone who has ideas about what should be included in the plan is very welcome to contact me!

Another ongoing activity at CBH School is that our JML group has been working on developing material for a poster campaign, with the aim of stimulating reflection and discussion in the workplace. You have probably seen the first two posters that were put up in lunchrooms and common areas during the spring semester. Another poster will be coming soon – keep an eye out!

A major ongoing initiative in the JML area is InspireLab, a new KTH centre focusing on technology development and gender equality. The centre is funded by a private donation and will invest in both research projects and education. So far, three small research projects have been granted support within the framework of the centre, one of which is at the CBH School, led by Matilda Larsson, and aims to develop technologies that can reduce birth injuries.

There is currently a new call for proposals where KTH researchers can apply for funding for projects focusing on technological development that improves gender equality in society. It will be exciting to follow the development of InspireLab and see how it can contribute to greater gender equality and knowledge at KTH!
