Amelie on the past academic year
Now the academic year is over and the students have already left KTH, while teachers, doctoral students and other staff are preparing for the summer holidays. It has been an intense year with a lot happening at KTH and at the school, especially during the last semester.
A major change has been the introduction of the School Faculty Boards, which began their work in January and form an important part of KTH's new organisation for collegial influence and decision-making. During the spring term, the Board has mainly worked on various educational issues and we have made decisions on revising syllabi, establishing and discontinuing courses, as well as endorsing the School's proposal to establish a new master's programme in data-driven health.
This week, the President has decided that the handling of employment and promotion matters will also move from the KTH joint employment board to the schools, as of 1 January 2025. This change will mean additional tasks for the school's faculty board, but also that we will need to set up a new body, an employment committee, to handle these matters.
In addition to the work on the new processes for recruitment and promotion, there will be a number of other important and interesting issues on the agenda this autumn.
In August, it will be fun to welcome the new students and get started with the autumn work – but until then, have a really nice summer holiday, take the opportunity to rest. I hope that you all have a nice summer with lots of sun and swimming!
