Amelie on the latest employee pulse survey

Published Sep 17, 2024

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about the employee pulse survey and the importance of participating

The results of the latest employee pulse survey have now been received, and the school's management has begun analysing them. Overall, CBH employees are more satisfied with their work situation than the average at KTH.

There are predominantly positive responses to the questions regarding the work climate, community in the workplace, and opportunities for development. However, it is evident that many experience a high workload and poor work-life balance. Unfortunately, the response rate has dropped from 72 per cent at its peak to 60 per cent in the latest survey.

Some staff have mentioned that they feel there is little point in responding to the pulse survey, as they believe it will not lead to any changes. One concrete action taken in response to the survey results is the support for school managers recently launched by the HR team, after it was recognised that managers were experiencing stress and high workloads to a greater extent than other staff groups within the school. Additionally, results from the Employee Pulse survey have led to localised interventions in departments, where improvements in the working environment have already been observed.

By encouraging as many people as possible to participate in future rounds of the employee pulse survey, we will be able to monitor the school's progress and assess whether the various initiatives are having a positive impact.
