Q&A on vacation
It's time to plan for the holidays and apply for vacation. Below, the HR Unit at CBH answers some of the most commonly asked vacation questions.
How do I know if I should register my vacation in the Self-reporting system?
Everyone who has the form method (Swedish: "blankettmetoden") should register their vacation in the Self reporting system. You can see what vacation method you have in the system if you go to: ”mina sidor” –> ”min semester”.
What does pattern method mean?
You are not allowed to save vacation days in the self-reporting system, nor should you report your vacation days in the self-reporting system. You are expected to take your vacation in consultation with your immediate supervisor or department head.
Can I save my vacation days?
If you have the form method and receive 20 vacation days or more during a year, you need to use at least 20 days that year. But apart from these 20 days, you have the option to save vacation days in the Self reporting system for the next year. The vacation days you want to save for after 2020 should be reported in the Self reporting system latest May 15th, 2020.
If I save vacation days for next year and change my mind and want to use these days as vacation this year, is this possible?
Yes, this is possible! But not the other way around, to decide to save days and register this later than May 15th.
How many days could I in total have saved from year to year if I have the form method?
You can´t have more than 30 days saved. If you have more than 30 days saved, you must use those days before 2022-12-31
What happens if I have the pattern method and I don´t use my days of vacation?
You will have the payment of holiday allowance in December each year, no matter if you have actually been on vacation or not. But it is very important to have time for recovery and “charging batteries”, so you should plan for vacation in agreement with your supervisor every year.
I am a scholarship holder, what about my holiday allowance and right to vacation?
Scholarship holders will not receive any holiday allowance since it is included in your scholarship. You are expected to take your vacation in consultation with your immediate supervisor or department head.
