Mikael about the Deputy President assignment

Published Nov 25, 2022

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about his new position, what the operational plan for 2023 means for CBH and who will take over as acting head of school at CBH School next year.

On November 23, the board decided on the appointment of Deputy President for the next six years. I am very grateful for the confidence and hope that I can contribute to developing KTH with my long experience from one of KTH's schools. I will start on the first of January next year. During December, I will participate in our new President’s visits to all schools of KTH. Our First Deputy Head of School, Amelie Eriksson Karlström, will be acting Head of School from the first of January and together we will make sure that the transition goes as smoothly as possible. Amelie is well versed in our school, so it feels safe that the handover is to her.

We just got the final operational plan for 2023  and for CBH we can mention the following targeted investments:

  • Start-up grant for teaching jobs of two million SEK per year over a three-year period
  • Advanced BioProduction by Continuous Processing with one million SEK per year during the period 2023–2027.
  • Investing in impact managers with SEK 600,000 in 2023.
  • Wallenberg Wood Science Center with ten million SEK in 2023.

The first point about start-up grants probably means about two new faculty positions in 2023 for CBH and our priority list for the whole of CBH contains many more, so we will work in CBH's management group on prioritizing these.
