Mikel on the impact of education
Head of school Mikael Lindström writes about a seminar where he met KTH alumni and was reminded of the positive impact of our work.
Sometimes, even a head of school takes a break from working with various strategy documents and action plans and ventures outside KTH. Yesterday was one such day when I participated as a lecturer in a seminar organized by Treesearch at StoraEnso AB. It is such a boost of energy to meet all of the participants who have received their education at KTH. There were both civil engineers and doctors, but also some of our foreign master's students who chose to work in Sweden. WWSC has conducted a survey that shows that 60 percent of those with foreign citizenship within WWSC holding a doctorate choose to stay and work in Sweden. It is such a positive image you get of KTH and the education and I want all of us who contribute to this to feel proud. We talk a lot about the impact we make, but this is really the biggest and can be easily forgotten in everyday life here at KTH.
Yesterday there was also a visit by Danish university directors to SciLifeLab. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to a nice visit and this is how our own university director Kerstin Jacobsson writes as a thank you in an email:
"Good morning, thank you very much for the professional and generous reception of my Danish colleagues yesterday. We KTH directors also gained important insights."
