In case of illness

Published Feb 17, 2022

Notification of illness and percentages

With regard to sick leave during the sick pay period (days 1-14), you can now report sick leave according to a stepless scale from 1 to 100 percent. Scope is reported with 0.01 = 1% to 1.0 = 100. Previously, you could only report 25, 50, 75 or 100 percent.

If you have another parallel part-time absence, such as parental leave, you need to take this into account when calculating the extent of sick leave. Example: if you have registered parental leave 25% of 100%, then your working hours are 75% = 6 hours per day. If you are sick half that day, ie 3 hours, then you should register 37.5% = 0.375 sick in the box scope, as this is half (50%) of your 6 hours.

Medical certificate from day 15 (19 Jan-31 March)

During the period 19 January to 31 March 2022, you as an employee do not need to submit a medical certificate during the first 14 days of the sick period. This provision entered into force on 7 February, but applies for a period from 19 January.

Tip: when you need to submit a medical certificate, you can log in to My pages at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. There you will find the medical certificates that have been sent to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency via the doctor on sick leave.

Compensation for deduction from sick pay during the qualifying period

It is again possible to apply for compensation for the deduction from sick pay during the qualifying day from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. It is a standard amount and you must have entered a registration for sick leave in the self-reporting system for the same date.

The Government has decided that compensation for the qualifying period will be reintroduced and apply during the period 8 December 2021 to 31 March 2022. From 7 February, you can apply for the compensation. You will then also be able to apply retroactively for the days that have passed from 8 December 2021.

You apply yourself on the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's website .
