New Head of Department of Chemistry wanted

The position
The Head of Department is responsible for managing the department and has personnel responsibility for all staff within the department. The Head of Department is part of the school director’s management team and reports directly to the Head of School. The management duties include leading the department’s operations and adhering to KTH's internal governing documents, along with applicable regulations and agreements for a public authority.
The Head of Department decides on the department's affairs, within the framework of the financial resources available to the department and manages the department's activities. Furthermore, the mission includes creating stimulating and competitive environments for research and education and working for a good study and work environment.
What is included in the head of department's assignment is stated in the current Delegation Scheme.
The appointment as head of department is an assignment and not to be equated with an employment. Thus, the head of department assignment requires that the person concerned is employed at KTH.
The appointment is for a maximum of 4 years but may be extended. The assignment covers 50 % of a full-time position.

Competence requirements
The management assignment includes representing KTH and the Head of Department is therefore expected to have:
- The ability to establish activities and collaborations within and outside KTH.
- The ability to develop and manage his/her own activities and staff while promoting KTH as a cohesive university.
- Good knowledge of current activities and conditions at the Department of Chemistry.
- Good co-operation skills at all levels.
- Ability to exercise leadership and management with respect for employees and contribute to decisions being made in a way that is characterised by openness, clarity, objectivity and participation.
- Communicate and act based on the fundamental values, visions and strategies that KTH stands for.
- Contribute to a more equal KTH by having knowledge of and actively working with gender equality, diversity and equal conditions.
- Have an interest in and insight into leadership in academia and working in an academic organisation.
Other matters
Based on the expressions of interest and proposals received, the nomination team identifies and interviews suitable and interested candidates. The nomination team shall, if possible, identify at least two candidates for the position of Head of Department. Both genders should be represented if possible.
The nomination team submits its proposal to the Head of School who, after consultation with the President, appoints the Head of Department.
