About the platform

KTH Materials Platform was created to support and catalyse interdisciplinary research in the materials field. An important goal is to facilitate interaction between expertise at KTH and external partners within academia, public organisations and companies with an interest in materials research.

Mission/goal

The objectives of the Materials Platform are to:

  • Catalyse multidisciplinary research activities
  • Build and maintain internal relations
  • Enhance external KTH visibility and recognition

Organisation

Operational activities are run by the Materials Platform team . The team is managed by the platform's steering group , concisting of the heads of school and the vice president who is responsible for the KTH's research platforms.

The Materials Platform also encompasses severa research groups at departments and divsions in KTH's school organisation, and at competence centres  active in material related research. .

Partners

KTH's internal partners to the Materials Platform are the platforms for energy, life science and transport.

Business liason partners are ABB, Bombardier, Ericsson, Saab, Scania, Skanska, Stora Enso and Vattenfall - all strategic partners of KTH.

Reference group

The platform has an extended reference group with representatives from other schools and departments at KTH.
