In order to have a eficien management of Apple products, KTH uses the Apple service ADE - Automated Device Enrollment.
What is the benefit of ADE
By making use of ADE, KTH can easily deploy and configure KTH-owned mobile Apple devices, Mac computers and Apple TV devices.
KTH uses ADE to make it easier for users to install their mobile device themselves without the need for hands on support by KTH IT Support.
As for Mac computers, ADE is helpful for IT Support personnel that help users with their computer setup.
Start a mobile Apple device by using ADE
The first time you start your Apple mobile device, you are guided through an installation procedure.
A description of this process can be found in the foldable menu below.
It will be easier for you if you have created an Apple ID before starting the installation of your device, and if you have your KTH username and
eduroam network secret
at hand. then follow the instructions below.
Insert your SIM card into the device and then boot it up
Set the language on the phone (usually Swedish or English) and select Sweden as the region
Set up the wireless network, which for this installation will be Eduroam. Enter your username followed by @kth.se (example: testjp@kth.se) and then the Eduroam password, which is your personal Network Secret.
You will then be asked to approve the certificate radius-wpa-1.lan.kth.se, that is done by pressing "Trust"
Then follows a box asking if you agree with Apple's GDPR rules, where you can read more about them or choose to continue directly to the next step.
Now a box will appear with information explaining that your device is managed by KTH, where you can tap to continue.
Next, a box appears where you enter your KTH username (without @kth.se) and then the password for it.
Set a passcode for your phone
Sign in with your Apple ID. If you already have an Apple ID, sign in with it, or you can choose to create one at this time. We strongly recommend that you sign in with an Apple ID, although you can choose not to.
Choose whether you want location services and iCloud Keychain enabled and after that you will be welcomed and can start using your device.
