Thesis
KTH has common rules for theses, licentiate seminars, disputations and qualifications. Further to these, schools may have additional or more stringent requirements, so it is important to also check these in plenty of time – at least six months before the licentiate seminar or disputation. Reference to the schools’ information can be found below.
To obtain a licentiate or doctoral degree, you must write a thesis. It can either be a compilation thesis or a monograph. The thesis must be written in English, and it must always include a summary in both English and Swedish.

Nailing the Thesis/Licentiate Thesis
According to a decision by the KTH president, doctoral thesis and licentiate thesis should be handled according to the same routines and be made available (posted) in both printed and electronic form, at least three weeks prior to the doctoral defence or licentiate seminar. Keep in mind that printing a thesis takes time, so make sure to start this process well in advance.
