KTH's Plan for Gender Mainstreaming (JiKTH)

As part of the Government's mandate to integrate gender equality into the operations of higher education institutions, universities and colleges are required to develop a plan for how the institution intends to advance work on gender mainstreaming. The plan should include development needs, goals, and activities that the institution intends to undertake and implement.

At KTH, gender mainstreaming is viewed from a broad perspective and is correlated with proactive anti-discrimination efforts. The plan links the government's mandate on gender mainstreaming with the broader work of the Discrimination Act (2008:567) for increased diversity and equal opportunities, which at KTH is referred to as JML (Gender Equality, Diversity, and Equal Conditions).

KTH's JiKTH Plan

KTH's JiKTH Plan for the years 2017-2019, " An Equal KTH - Plan for gender mainstreaming of KTH (JIKTH) ", was revised in December 2022 and resulted in the " Plan for Continued Work for a Gender Equal KTH ."

At KTH, this plan is called JiKTH, and it includes KTH's overarching goals for gender equality, diversity, and equal opportunities:

  • Increase knowledge and awareness of gender and JML throughout KTH to challenge and change unequal structures and cultures.
  • The integration of knowledge about gender and JML should be done both content-wise and in practical actions, in basic, teacher, staff, and leadership training.
  • Increased awareness of gender and JML should be related to social sustainability and core values in a comprehensive manner.
