*An intersectional perspective on gender equality

KTH's vision of gender equality is to be understood through an intersectional lens . Because men and women are not homogenous groups, and many do not identify within the binary, lived experiences and life circumstances vary significantly. This highlights the importance of understanding the interplay of different power structures. Gender equality, therefore, means equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, class, sexuality, etc., recognizing that diverse backgrounds create unique challenges and opportunities. Achieving gender equality at KTH requires actively counteracting all forms of discrimination and promoting inclusion for everyone.

When discussing the work of change for gender equality, we therefore often use the acronym JML, which stands for gender equality, diversity and equal opportunities.
