About the webinar

This Lunch 'n' Learn will present different ways to examine engineering students. Recent decisions at KTH in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic put pressure on us to replace written examinations on campus with other forms of assessment. In this talk we present some options that recent research in engineering education theory and practice have shown to be highly successful. We explore these methods in terms of equity of assessment and academic accountability as well as their ability to reveal student capability in relation to Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO) of different types and their vulnerability to dishonest academic conduct.

The presentation is shorter than usual (15-20 minutes) and a large portion of the time is devoted to collegial discussion allowing our colleagues who have already made changes to their assessment to share their experiences and the opportunities and pitfalls we may encounter. This webinar's presentation is held in English followed by a discussion in Swedish.

Presenter: Arnold Pears (ITM, KTH).
