Lifelong learning

Lifelong learning (LL) at KTH is education primarily aimed at professionals. It consists of further education such as freestanding courses, contract education, online courses (MOOC) and supplementary teacher education (KPU). Here you can find internal resources and news about LL at KTH.

KTH's goal is for lifelong learning to be an integral part of KTH's education and to comprise about 20 percent of the total volume of education. In recent years, the government has implemented special initiatives and given assignments aimed at increasing lifelong learning at Sweden's universities and higher education institutions.

Free online courses (MOOCs)

KTH has several short, free online courses, called MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). The courses are online, open and free for anyone interested to take. The courses do not require any prior knowledge, students are not admitted and they do not award any higher education credits. They are self-paced and often take only a few hours to complete.

Supplementary teacher education (KPU)

KTH offers three different supplementary teacher programmes of 60-90 credits. The programmes are suitable for those who have a previous degree from a university or college and who want to study to become a teacher. It is suitable, for example, for those currently working as an engineer, architect or a scientific profession.
