Kopps is replaced by education planning in Ladok from 1 June

Published May 12, 2025

Kopps, KTH's current system support for course and programme planning, will be replaced with new functionality for education planning in Ladok from 1 June 2025. The shift mainly affects educational administrative work processes.

The work with education planning will largely be done in the same way as before when we transition from Kopps to education planning in Ladok. Information about courses and programmes in About course  and education plans will look like before, but the information is retrieved from Ladok instead of from Kopps.

Below we briefly list the major changes that are taking place, but here you can read more about the changes.

Changes when KTH's education database Kopps is closed down

Role management for courses is managed in Ladok and Canvas

The roles examiner, course coordinator, teacher and course assistant are currently managed via Kopps and UG groups and are displayed in various places on the web, for example in the course and programme directory. The roles form the basis for permissions in Canvas and About course. In the future, the roles will be managed in Ladok and Canvas.

Some headings are removed in the course and programme directory

To make it easier for students and remove fields that are used to a small extent, we remove the headings Contact person, Extension, Equipment and Information for doctoral students about when the course is given. The headings are currently visible under About course.

New process support for education administrative processes

There will be process support in Ladok for, for example, the establishment and revision of a course and the establishment of a study plan. The Word templates used for course creation will disappear, and course creation will take place in Ladok.

Convertus will be removed

The translation tool Convertus will no longer be used after the transition to education planning in Ladok. Convertus has been used for translation of syllabi from Swedish to English. An investigation of the tool showed, among other things, that there are other, more powerful tools for translation today.

Kopps public API is removed

Kopps has had a public API (Application Programming Interface) that made it possible to retrieve information about KTH's courses and programmes, which has been used for KTH's website and for integrations with other systems at KTH. There is no corresponding public API for Ladok, but KTH's website and integrated systems will continue to have access to the necessary data.
