This is the support for anonymous examination spring semester 2024

Published Nov 24, 2023

The support applies to functions for anonymisation in Canvas and routines for anonymous written examination. The functions for anonymous grading in Canvas and Möbius described in the user support can already be used by teachers today. Routines for written examination that have been developed will be tested in a pilot during the re-examination period in December.

In May 2023, the University Director was tasked with developing support so that anonymisation of test answers can be implemented starting spring semester 2024.

Background

KTH's Student Union (THS) has long wanted students' test answers to be anonymised, where appropriate, prior to marking/assessment. At the end of May 2023, the President decided to commission the University Director (V-2023-0435 2.2) to develop support so that anonymisation of test answers can be implemented from spring semester 2024.

The decision states that "KTH should strive for a broad range of examination forms and a constructive link between course objectives, learning activities and examination."

User support for functions in Canvas

The objective was to assess which functions can be developed for anonymisation in the learning platform Canvas and to develop user support for these functions.

Web resources about anonymous assessment

Anonymous assessment is a method for achieving a more legally secure examination. The teacher/examiner decides whether it should be used, that is, when it is possible and appropriate to carry out at KTH . On the intranet, you can read about why anonymous assessment is good  and about difficulties that may arise .

Routines for written examination

The objective was to develop routines for anonymising test answers for written examinations, for example for written on-campus exams or partial exams.

Exam pilot in December 2023

The routine that was developed and tested in 2019/2020 has been adjusted and will be tested again under controlled conditions during the re-examination period in December 2023. The pilot will be carried out on a number of written on-campus examinations. After the pilot, an evaluation will be made of whether the existing vigilator competence and developed routines hold up with increased volumes.

Read more on the project page "Tentapilot 2023" , only available in Swedish at the moment. There you will find targeted information for examiners, teachers, administrators and invigilators.
