Are you curious about EU research funding but not sure where to start? The Research Support Office (RSO) at KTH invites you to a beginner-friendly information session designed for researchers who are new to Horizon Europe.

This session will focus on collaborative projects ("samverkansprojekt") – large-scale research and innovation initiatives involving partnerships between universities, industry, the public sector, and other stakeholders from across Europe. These projects are primarily funded under Pillar II of Horizon Europe and aim to address major societal challenges through interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.

We will highlight both the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) – including collaborative formats such as Doctoral Networks – and the larger consortia projects funded under Pillar II, with a focus on how researchers can participate in and apply for these types of collaborative projects.

Whether you’re planning your first application or simply want to understand what’s available, this session will give you a useful overview of the EU funding landscape — including the basics of the application process, how to find relevant calls, and what support is available at KTH.

In this session, we’ll cover:

• What is Horizon Europe?

• Focus areas:
– Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Doctoral networks (DN) and Staff Exchanges (SE) (Pillar I, Excellent Science)
– Large-scale collaborative projects tackling global challenges (Pillar II, Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness)

• Why apply for European funding?

• How do I find relevant calls?

• How to find partners?

• What support does KTH Research Support Office offer?

No prior experience with EU funding is required — the focus will be on practical, easy-to-understand advice, and all questions are welcome.
