Decision on direction for reorganisation in the Department of Architecture

In the spring of 2023, Head of School tasked Head of Department Katja Grillner with conducting a study of the existing organisation of the Department of Architecture and developing a proposal for a renewed organisational structure.
Based on the final proposal, the Head of School now decides on the direction for reorganisation within the Department of Architecture.

The Head of School instructs Head of Department Katja Grillner to, based on the conducted organisational study:

  • Organise parts of the department into three new divisions to be established at mid-year 2024.
  • Organise the staff within the new divisions by the turn of the year 2024/2025 at the latest. During the transition period in autumn 2024, current staff groups in the Department of Architecture will be gradually phased out.
  • Prepare a new financial model for the department by the turn of the year 2024/2025.

Furthermore, the Head of School instructs Head of Department Katja Griller to establish a reference group with 4-6 representatives from the department to support the transition process within the department during 2024.

Background

In the spring of 2023, Head of School tasked Head of Department Katja Grillner with conducting a study of the existing organisation of the Department of Architecture and developing a proposal for a renewed organisational structure. The purpose was to achieve an organisation that, in a more efficient way than the current organisation, supports collaboration between education and research, a collective collegial responsibility for the activities, and a clearer structure for management and governance.
