New role description established for director of studies, third cycle education

The role includes, among other things, the following responsibilities:

• providing support to the programme directors in education-related matters, and, where required, in the development of subject-specific study plans;
• preparing applications and supporting documentation for the establishment and discontinuation of courses, and managing the process in Ladok in collaboration with the university administration;
• coordinating revisions of course syllabi.

Each department should have at least one director of studies with responsibility across the whole department. The function may also be organised at division level if this better suits the organisational structure. Each department may extend the director of studies role with additional tasks beyond the core remit.

The new role description is in effect since 19 January 2026.
