Head of Department responsibilities
The Head of Department's decision-making rights are stated in the school's decision and delegation order. The Head of department may, by appointing Head(s) of Division(s), by special decision delegate certain decision-making rights within the department.
The Head of Department has an academic responsibility within the department, which implies overall responsibility for the organisation's strategic research capacity and the promotion of collaboration between research groups within and outside the department. The Head of Department is also responsible for ensuring that the researchers and teachers of the department are given good academic career support and to ensure that education at the doctoral level within the department works well and that doctoral students at the department are given a good study and working environment. The Head of Department is also responsible for ensuring that the courses offered by the department generally maintain good quality.
The Head of Department is responsible for all staff in the department including temporary staff (hourly) who work in the field of activity or in its premises and with its machines and / or equipment. According to the decision and delegation order, the Head of Department is also responsible for the work environment within the department.
