KTH Space Center organizes two Space Rendezvous each year, one during each academic period. It is a half day event filled with talks on a specific space-related topic. Join us for another exciting KTH Space Rendezvous on Friday October 8. This time the theme is “Science Fiction in the Movies” 

It is free to participate in the Space Rendezvous, and the event is open to everyone.

Special screening of Tangent Room (66 min)
Tangent Room is an English-language science fiction feature film made in Sweden. It is set in a single room, where four scientists are trapped and given a series of numbers as their only clue to how they can escape alive.
The film explores the limits of human knowledge in the form of a thriller. Many scientific theories in the film are based on published articles and speculative scientific research papers, but the film also takes the liberty of stretching imagination far into the unknown. For those with knowledge about physics and the cosmos, there are hints of humor that only they will understand.

The making of Tangent Room
Following the screening of the film, writer-director Björn Engström will talk about how to make a low budget film using very limited resources, how the idea came to him so clearly that he wrote the screenplay in only three weeks, and how making the film gave him a clear vision of the kinds of stories he wants to tell. Hopefully the film will also inspire initiated questions and discussions with the audience.

Music in Science Fiction
Jörgen Städje, long-time techie journalist and writer talks about and
plays "Music in Science Fiction". He will give his view on what led him
into SF and the various aspects of music, both classical and modern,
that characterises SF through the times. The lecture is not all about SF
movies och raygun-wielding foes. Many composers have writtren SF
inspired music through times, while others proabaly never imagined
either the concept of SF nor that their music would be used to accompany
futuristic stories.

Prepare yourself for a voyage through time and space, expressed in
glorious powerpoint and timeless sonic fireworks.
