Four areas in focus for the University Administration
As before, the University Administration reform agenda prioritises close support and participation in KTH's other development initiatives and external relations. It also actively works on administrative simplifications, efficiency improvements, and the smooth management of official tasks. All of this is done with a focus on cost efficiency.
“We will make a concerted effort towards digitalisation and IT support with a focus on fundamentally changing how tasks are performed through digitalisation, automation and the responsible use of artificial intelligence, University Director Kerstin Jacobsson says.
She responds to the question about the focus of the operational support reform agenda in the coming years as follows:
In relation to core operations, she highlights specific assignments where the potential for and need of efficiency improvements are greatest.
“These are areas where solutions need to be developed jointly by several VS functions and core operations to ensure the best possible results,” Kerstin Jacobsson says, listing the following four priority areas:
• The Education Office, the Management Office and the school offices shall work together to develop educational support.
• The Research Support Department, the Finance Department, the KTH Library and the school offices are collaborating to ensure future support for KTH's research, given that there are major investments in research in areas relevant to KTH, both nationally and within the EU.
• An ongoing project to reorganise support for premises, security and services, involving primarily the school offices, the Property Department, the IT Department and the Security and Safety Department. The aim is to provide accessible, equal and less vulnerable support regardless of where you are in the organisation.
“Finally, the ambition is to make a major push for digitalisation and IT support with a focus on fundamentally changing how tasks are performed through digitalisation, automation and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. This involves all functions within the University Administration to a greater or lesser extent and in cooperation and dialogue throughout KTH,” Jacobsson says.
